Handmade and adorned hand inlaid capiz oyster shell
Each piece is crafted by hand, from the pressing of the metal base to placing each shell into place. The final steps would include hand painting and sealing the item.
Capiz is an oyster shell and the primary purpose of the oyster is as a source of food. However, the by-product, the shell, can be used for decoration. Due to it being a natural material, the natural colors of the capiz come through as tans and browns underneath the paint.

Jefferson has been working with his artisan group for 8 years.
By working with this artisan group, he receives a living wage, safe working environment, access to affordable health care, and continuing education.
When asked about what he enjoys most about her work, Jefferson says it gives him opportunity to give his daughter a better life while working for a good company and a kind employer.
We are a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, a coalition of manufacturers, retailers, and designers dedicated to raising awareness and expanding the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices across the home furnishings industry.
We view ourselves as partners with our manufacturers and continuously exchange ideas on how to improve production, product quality, and the health and well-being of the artisans that work to create the products we sell.
